John Sheely – Commodity/Forex Expert & Co-Host of the Wall Street Shuffle every Tuesday & Thursday

Mr. Sheely has traded the commodity markets for almost 30 years, both as a registered trading advisor and as a proprietary trader for several premier trading firms.
He was first introduced to commodities in 1980 when he served as general counsel and attorney for a small oil company in Houston, Texas. After becoming hooked on the excitement of watching the oil traders, he joined an energy trading company started by Commodity Corporation- the premier commodity trading organization for the period. Although he started as an analyst and assistant trader, his skills as a forecaster became evident to the organization after he won First Place as Chartist for the Year in a national contest held by Commodity Perspective, a popular commodity magazine at that time. He was quickly accelerated to join the energy trading desk and was given trading authorization to manage funds for the company’s proprietary account.
Based upon several years of success, John started Pinnacle Trading Company, Inc. and registered as a commodity trading advisor. Pinnacle began managing funds in 1987 and, during the life of that firm, managed more than $50,000,000 while trading funds established by Dean Witter, Merrill Lynch, and other high profile firms. He again did very well as a money manager and ultimately closed Pinnacle Trading Company in 1995 as he and his wife Debra started their family.
During his hiatus as a fund manager, John became fascinated by the rise of the impact of the quantitative funds on the commodity markets. As a professional trader, he knew the major impact these funds and fund managers were having on the markets in the short term. He realized that, if a trader was to succeed in the future, the trader had to know when, why, and how these quantitative models and systems were entering and exiting the markets. It was this field that became his new dedication.
Because John had some programming ability, John made it his mission to understand price, as much as any firm or quantitative analyst in the industry. For the next 5 years, John voraciously read about every trading methodology that was known to the public. He programmed and back-tested trading methodologies, technical indicators, and chart patterns. You name it he tested it. The end result was a deep understanding of how these mega funds and quantitative models entered and exited the financial markets.
For the past 10 years, John has traded for several proprietary funds, including a proprietary fund for Duke Energy. Most recently he has agreed to serve as director of research and development for YourTradingRoom, a firm which specializes in trading education and active management in the popular Forex currency markets.
John will return to active fund management in 2012 in stocks, commodities, and Forex. He looks forward to being an active contributor to the Wall Street Shuffle so that its loyal audience learns the skills of a true market professional.
